CHALLENGE
Optimize the use of raw materials and make our production process more efficient and sustainable by reusing unsold garments, such as samples from photoshoots, fashion runways, etc. Our objective was to recycle these materials by undoing and re-knitting them into new products, including women’s clothing and baby garments, thereby maximizing the use of these resources while contributing to a more circular economy
SOLUTION
By recycling donated yarn and creatively reusing old clothing, we have been able to not only reduced production costs but also minimized environmental impact.
This initiative represents a concrete step toward a circular economy, proving that textile waste can be transformed into valuable resources, promoting more responsible and conscious consumption.
CIRCULAR ECONOMY STRATEGIES/BUSINESS MODEL IMPLEMENTED
This project is a concrete example of how it is possible to redefine the production and consumption model through the circular economy, avoiding resource waste, using less from the start (Narrow), designing for durability (Slow), and reusing materials (Close), while also creating new social, educational, and economic opportunities.
IMPACT
Environmental impact
Waste reduction: Our main performance indicator (SDG 12) shows a 30% reduction in waste at Brave_of.
This figure corresponds to the initial percentage of waste we had, as we have reused all remaining stock.
Economic impact
During the implementation of the project, we created several jobs: (One full-time position + five part-time collaborators).
Social impact
We’re pleased to report that most of the material has been reused without issues and we are currently selling high-quality garments that are perceived as new despite being made with recycled materials.
This has been possible thanks to the meticulous treatment applied to each item upon receipt. The high demand for our products in the market validates customer interest and shows clear commercial potential. This positive reception reinforces the project’s viability from a consumer perspective.
KEY TAKEAWAY
This initiative represents a concrete step toward a circular economy, proving that textile waste can be transformed into valuable resources, promoting more responsible and conscious consumption.
